Today, I was saddened by the news of Tan Sri Aziz’s passing, our Chairman for the Damansara Heights Residents' Association (RA), a position he held for over 20 years. He was 87.
Tan Sri was so much more than just @malaysiaairlines’ CEO – he was a family man, loved the law, and volunteered selflessly in community building through our neighborhood association. I am honored to have captured his legacy in an article I contributed for the 2017 edition of the RA magazine called The Voice, where I wrote about the Association’s efforts to foster sustainable urban planning with DBKL Malaysia and the muhibah spirit (or spirit of neighbourliness) in Damansara Heights. In the same year, @lonelyplanet named Damansara Heights in the top 10 world’s coolest neighborhoods to visit: http://bit.ly/36krExN
Had it not been for Tan Sri’s efforts and the committee behind him, I would not have made such meaningful connections with my #CKOBD neighbors and realized the importance of community building. It influenced the way I approached scaling customer growth and culture building in my work too. Today, I appreciate the impact of investing in the future generation of our communities, thanks to Tan Sri’s legacy.
May his soul rest in jannah, in perfect peace.
